Handy new Google Tools to help with literacy

Have a look at your Tools menu in Google docs and see the new speech to text tool - appeared this September and is great for those students who have ideas but struggle with writing!
Another cool tool can turn pics with text in them to Google docs you can edit ( see pic below of a blog post turned into a doc) You can take the pic of anything containing words with your iphone and open in the Docs app or send your pic to Google Photos - right click and open with docs - magically the words are extracted from pic and placed at the bottom of the pic  and can now be edited.
Lots of ways you can use this feature.

Reading resources

Back from my holiday in Europe, it was so hot there and travelling with grandchildren so a little challenging.
Back to the real world - thinking about multi literacies - a great resource is Sheena Cameron's resource downloads. I am looking at ways we could translate some of these strategies to e-learning tools.

10 team building games to promote critical thinking

3D Design tool

I saw a class today creating 3D designs using Tinkercad, these were then turned into reality with a 3D printer. Lots of planning and problem solving in the process. The student's brief was to make small 3D kiwiana models for a monopoly game. Click on the pic to find out more!
